Fall 2018

With the passing of Labor Day, we are looking to our fall season.    For those of you who don’t know, last June I sold about 50 acres of land to the Town of Glastonbury who then sold the agricultural rights to Belltown Hill Orchards, our neighbors to the south.   This will enable me to start thinking about my own retirement over the next few years, plus I still get to enjoy the view without all the work!

With that sale, we will no longer run our School tour hayrides this Fall, nor our Fall Festival at Matson Hill.  Our pumpkin hayrides will be moving north to our Hebron Ave. location, where there a few fields of great pumpkins!

Matson Hill will be open weekends for pick-your-own & Sunday Breakfast with-a-view
Even though Blueberries are almost over, Apples and Raspberries will take their place.

We will also have a great selection of pumpkins and fall items at both locations.

Thank you for your continued support.

Spring has finally arrived!!

It seemed  Spring would never arrive this year!  Our strawberries are finally starting to blossom, along with the pears then will come the blueberries.  Everyday my view changes.

We brought in bumble bees for the first time this year.  They are supposed to be better pollinators for blueberries and will work in more challenging conditions than honey bees.  That is a plus when we have cool drizzly mornings or the temperature decides to revert to April again.

Another first for us will be the installation of wireless monitoring equipment at our Hebron Ave stand.  We have been working with Verizon and Monnit to make this happen and we are optimistic that the system will help us with frost protection, irrigation and temperature controls in the future.  It always amazes me how new uses are cropping up everywhere for wireless technology.

We are set to open our Hebron Ave. stand on May 22,2014, followed by our Breakfast with -a-view opening on June 8 at our Matson Hill location.  If you need blueberry plants, pies, jam or frozen berries before then, just give us a call at 860-633-6001 or email rosesblues@cox.net and we will do our best to make it happen.

We look forward to a great 2014 and we thank all of you for making that a reality.

Dreary day on the farm.  We need the moisture but I hope this clears out by the weekend.
We will be open for Christmas trees, decorations and gift boxes Friday through Sunday 9-4:30.  Debbie has been busy putting together a number of gift items which can be shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states for $12.

She also has some larger gift baskets for your gift giving needs closer to home.  For more information give us a call at 860-633-6001.
